On Wednesday, the parents came to Brussels to see my "home," and they were pleasantly surprised by the city! I think it's because I really downplayed the aesthetics of the city, so they were shocked to see that there are actually a few things to see here.
We went to see the Cathedral, the Museum of Musical Instruments (that I love because they give you headphones that play music as you go to the different glass cases of instruments and stop as they detect you moving on to the next one), the Royal Palace, the Royal Park, and etc. Lots of walking and looking!
I'm really glad I brought them to the Royal Park because it's absolutely stunning with all the golden leaves! We could stay there all day. I definitely inherited my Dad's love for pretty nature.
This is the Royal Palace. Not much to say. My Dad knows his hat is so silly looking, but he wears it because my mother knitted it. How sweet!Then we had a really nice dinner of moules, frites, et biere-- mussels, fries, and beer! It's the ultimate Belgian dinner. It was weird seeing my parents drink every night, especially my mom. She decided that since she was in Europe, she HAD to drink every night because that's what they do here (sort of), but it was strange seeing her turn red and get tipsy and say, "goody goody." Weird! I didn't drink with them. That would be even weirder!
Then I finally brought them to the Grand Place. It's rather pretty, especially at night. Too bad my camera makes everything seem yellower than they actually are!
Cute parents.Okay, time to stop watching "Community" and actually get some work done! I think I'll disappear from the internet for the next three weeks until Cairo because I'm a doomed student! Ack.
I'll be home in 1.5 months... that's crazy! I don't know if I'm ready yet. I just got here!
